My problem was the hard drive was corrupted and basicly fried itself so I got another hard drive and it fixed it. This will get rid of the current version of windows and you must install another operating system from windows.
Thanks for the help ~ Nick

Hi @NickPayne73,
Thank you for showing your interest in HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I came across your post and wanted to assist you. Don't worry as I have a few steps to help you get through this concern,
Please try these steps here:
Run an Extensive test on the Hard drive from F2
Depending on the test results, If the test passes, I would recommend you once again try to initiate system recovery from the partition. If this option fails, which means that the system file is missing or corrupted.
The only other way to install Windows would be to order the recovery media for your laptop and using the recovery media you can install Windows. You can check if the recovery media is available online on www.hp.com/drivers by entering the exact model no. of your laptop. To find the exact model no. click here: http://hp.care/2bygf7l
Otherwise, you could also reach HP phone support to order the recovery media. Please fill in the product details to get the tech support number.
Please use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:
Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Hi @NickPayne73,
Thanks for replying. As I understand you have tried to perform the test on the Hard drive and unfortunately, the hard drive is not detected. Not a problem, let's try other steps which should help to fix the issue.
Turn off the computer and then press the power button to turn on and continuously hit the Esc key until you see the Startup Menu - On this screen press the F10 key to boot into the Bios.
On the Bios check for the hard drive and if it's listed run the DPS extensive test.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you.
