HP Laptop Model 15-db0403ng
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I got my Laptop a year ago, and i am just 2 weeks out of Product support, and this error is driving me crazy, i hope someone can help me.

I bought the HP Laptop Model 15-db0403ng, with AMD Ryzen 5 2500U with Radion Vega Mobile Gfx, 8GB Ram, 256 GB SSD and without Windows 10, and installed the operation system manual. I am running now the latest update of Windows 10 and i installed the AMD Ryzen 5 2500U driver (Adrenalin 2020). Also i installed HP support Assist to get all necessary drivers and installed them.

I think the issue is with the SSD (WDC PC SN520 SDAPNUW-256G-1006) i also found no dirver for the this ssd, but ussualy they come with windows 10.

For a year now every day when i turn on the laptop in the morning the first boot of the day gets the Error message:

"Boot Device Not Found

Please install an operating system on your hard disk.

Hard Disk (3F0)

F2 System Diagnositcs

For more information, please visit: www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup "

Than i turn the Laptop off and on again and it works without any problems.

If i turn of the Laptop for 2-3 hours it boots normal, only in the morning or not using it for some time it has this error.

I have the same laptop twice and both laptops have the same issue.

I did System Diagnostics and tested the Hard drive in BIOS and in Windows 10 full check, and no issue was found. Also I reset Bios, and it boots from Legacy, also i delayed the windows boot for 5 seconds but did not help.

Anyone has an idea what could cause the Problem?

That is a possibility, thanks a lot for pointing that out. It would only be strange that this error happened right from the start. Also if the cmos battery would be empty, would it not reset the bios + windows date and timing? I did not notice such a thing.

Thanks also for the Manual: "HP Notebook Hard Drives & Solid State Drives Identifying, Preventing, ..." i find it very helpful, but i still have not found a solution. In the Manual there was no mention of a cmos Battery only the main Battery (3-cell Prismatic/Polymer battery, long life, 41 Whr).

Do you think an update of Bios could help in my case?

Hi

Date and Time should not be maintained as you rightly point out.

However if there is an Automatic update via the web for Date and Time then ??????????

Other things would be BIOS settings for Secure/Legacy boot, boot sequence etc.

Having the SSD should not be an issue (Hard drive : 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD)

Quite a lot of drivers to choose from...  EG:

HP Notebook System BIOS Update (AMD Processors)

F.22 Rev.A 17.6 MB Dec 10, 2019 Download

Seagate Hard Drive Firmware Update

SHM4/RSM8 Combo2 Rev.A 4.5 MB Mar 27, 2019 Download

etc etc.

So i have the BIOS-Version: Insyde F.11, 20.08.2018 and Windows 10 Pro 10.0.18362 Build 18362.

I am just not shure about the Bios update via the software https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-15-db0000-laptop-pc/20395843/model/24808579?ssfF...

I did that once and it bricked my laptop. So if i dont have to update the bios i rather not. Is it save to update Bios via this software on the OS Windows 10? Do you think a bios update could fix the problem? Also do you have a link to a good tutorial how to update bios the right way? Thanks.

Hi

I am NOT recommending a BIOS update, however if you want to understand the process.........

Hopefully one of these documents will cover (and solve) your problem...

Thanks a lot for the link of how update Bios, or reset Bios. For now i am not going to update the Bios, maybe in Summer when i don't need the laptop every day I try it. For now i opened up the Laptop (6 Screws are under the rubber stand off and 3 are visible) than removed the dvd drive and than opened up the plastic clips with a guitar-plug. It is recommended to also remove the battery, but i did not, i only removed the SSD and than put it back. But the error is still the same, first boot of the day can not find the ssd.
