Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Ok im trying to install a flaver of linux and I've it a road block. I can't get my PC to boot to the usb I am using i have used the UUSBI (Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.6.8) no put it on the drive and close out of it take out the flash and power down plugin the drive and power on and it just boots to windows i have tried F9 to boot to it but it just opens a root folder i have gone to the bios and turned on legacy suport and reboot and nothing. I have been all over the web searching for someone who has had this problem and found nothing. plz help

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

Presuming this is a laptop, what has worked for me (IF the laptop DOES support booting from USB -- not all do) is pressing the Esc key repeatedly while booting to eventually get a boot device menu.

 

IF the USB device is then seen in that menu, select it.

 

You might then also see a line of text about pressing any key to boot from disk.  IF that appears, press the space bar.

I have tryed this and it did not show up for the facts i did have ubuntu on my laptop and duel booted with windows but i want to go to kali linux for my job of testing securty so i have removed ubuntu to install kali but i can not even boot to the flash abd btw thank you for welcomeing me to the forms
