Laptop locks up evrn after a hard reset. I suspect I downloaded a wrong processor driver. Even when booting up l have no access to F2, F8, F9 ,F10.
I can only let the computer boot normally. I tried Safe Mode but then you cannot run repair programs. Anyone out there who might have an idea. I live on an island and need a ferry to get anywhere but I cannot afford that on my low pension income. So please keep that in mind. Thank you in advance as this is my only way I can keep contact. I am almost 80 so I hope there is some assistance, Robert.

Thank you for your reply. It is a Pavilion g6 notebook. At the moment I can't tell you the processor. I tried a hard start. I have bee able to do a hard start. No luck but I was able to get the laptop in safe mode and even though it took hours, I was able to run the complete version of a repair program in safe mode. The name is advanced System repair versio 10 Pro and comes from Pinot company. It fixed several thousand errors but when I tried to run the laptop it froze at the last moment when the desktop was almost complete. I have received several solutions but I have to make time to try them all. But thank you for your reply and I will keep on trying the various solutions. Cheers, Robert

Hi, again thank you for your reply but I was just in bed when I got your reply. I found out how to run a Hard Test and it passed with flying colours. I then took everything off the laptop, shut it down, no power on it anymore, pushed the power button 30 seconds and plugged it back into power, left all other devices unplugged, started the laptop an lo and behold, I could pressed the Esc button and the Diagnostics came up. I am now running all the various programs and so far all Test passed scrutiny. I will keep on running all tests and see what comes next. I will keep you informed if you don't mind. You can also use my email if you want.  van_oeveren@telus.net. Thanks again,

Robert
