HP Recommended

The case concerns laptop HP ProBook 455 G7, manufactured in 2021,

In accordance with security recommendations, for a first time agter purchase I updated the BIOS to version 01.16.00, unfortunately without saving the number of the one that was originally in it. After the update, my external keyboard and mouse (connected via USB) stopped working during restart. I work on Linux, sometimes I need Windows and for this purpose I have the startup manager installed - Grub. Additionally, I almost always work with an attached external monitor and keyboard. A computer with an up-to-date BIOS does not allow me to select the bootable system in Grub using an external keyboard. HP telephone support advised me to download from the HP website and look for a previous BIOS in which the keyboard would work. Now I can download a dozen BIOS versions and install them one by one to find the right one.

My question is: can't such a powerful corporation as HP, employing so many competent specialists, recognize the mistake that was made and determine when it occurred? Are code fixes tested at HP, or are customers the testers to provide HP with knowledge of what's broken?

Best regards.

PS.
The battery saving mode (charging to 80%) also stopped working. After returning to the proper BIOS I will find out whether changing it is the reason.
