Probook 4540s
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

Hello all,

I know this is a common thing that the laptop doesnt turn on and the caps lock is blinking 5 times. However, my Probook 4540s is strangely turns on with the 5 capls lock blinks.

But it doesnt go passed the HP logo. i can go to the bios and i have done a basic diagnostic test but there were no issue find in the tests. I have tried to force boot up using a windows DVD boot menu slection, but it doesnt go pass the winodws logo.

And the system seems to be quite slow.. and the cooling fan stops spinning after some time trying to boot the windows disk.

Please help me to sort this out!

Thank you.

Hi,

System board
5.3 (blink)
Caps Lock LED blinks red 5 times followed by 3 white blinks.
The embedded controller has timed out waiting for the BIOS.
Remove all accessory devices from the notebook.
If the error code persists, contact support for possible repair.
5.4 (blink/beep)
Caps Lock LED blinks white 5 times (slowly) followed by 4 quick blinks.
LED blinks are accompanied by beeps. Red blinks have a lower tone and white blinks have a higher tone.
The embedded controller has timed out waiting for the BIOS to return from system board initialization (end of POST).
