im running Ubuntu 14.04(Trusty Tahr) on my Elitebook 8440p. A few days ago i got this message during bootup in a black screen saying "Non-System Disk or Disk Error" and it would stay that way without booting. I searched many forums and read many articles. First i thought it was a hardware issue. So i ran a Hard Disk Self Test. But it said that the drive was totally fine. Then i reinstalled my bootloader(Grub2) but that didnt help either. Someone told me that the Master Boot Record(MBR) was corrupt. I used this boot-repair tool to fix both bootloader and MBR and it still was not helping. So i reinstalled my system again and it worked. The problem was gone. It was working fine until today morning. When i started my PC, the same error showed up again. I cant boot my os and right now im posting this from ubuntu(14.04) live disk on the same machine. Can someone please tell me what i need to do? Do i have to reinstall OS again? If so will this problem come back? Please help.
Thanks.
Basith
