Hi,

     I have a problem, with my hp x2 10 - p007 na (product id: Z3D78EA#ABU ) but solutions I've read that have been posted so far on this board will not work for me unfortunately. So any help would be much appreciated.

 

here's the scenario:

It will not boot into windows when I switch on, after a few moments I get the following on screen:  Boot Device Not Found.  Please install an operating system on your hard disk.  hard disk - (3fo). F2 system diagnostics. for more information, please visit: .....etc.

 

here's where it gets strange... when I press F2 and go into system diagnostics, I get version number 1.17.0.0 - bios. and 4 options: memory test, storage tests,language and exit. ( ran all tests everything is coming back 'PASSED', inc. extensive checks).. I say strange because there is no other options compared to other hp x2 devices, unless it's different for mine ?

 

pressing esc, I get the system information, system diagnostics, boot device options, bios setup, system recovery and network boot. gone through these and just end up back at 'boot device not found' screen. when I go into the boot device options, I only get 'boot from efi file' (no other options there and clicking that just takes me back to boot device not found.

 

On the hardware side, it's 2gb ram and a eMMC 32gb sandisk chip. (built onto the board, not a plug in type.) I've checked inside, and nothing seems loose etc.

 

I bought it as not working, so I don't know what's been done to it previously... again many thanks for any help guys and gals.

The only suggestion I can offer, since all the hardware tests passed is this...

 

Using another Windows PC make a bootable USB W10 installation flash drive using the media creation tool at the link below.

 

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

 

After you press the ESC key to get the menu of options, select the F9 boot options menu, and from that select the USB diskette on key/USB flash drive and press the Enter key.

 

The PC should boot from the flash drive and the W10 installation process should begin.

 

Hopefully, it will find the eMMC drive to install on.

 

I suggest that when you get to the part that asks 'Where do you want to install Windows,' delete every partition on the drive, leaving just one partition of unallocated space.  Click Next, and W10 should install.

 

After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.

I did a clean install, because I don't know who had it before me and I didn't want to risk this problem again.

The clean install, assuming you deleted all of the partitions on there, ensures you of the maximum amount of usable space on that tiny 32 GB drive.

 

You're going to need it.

Very true,clean and lean is the way to go. I do have a 400gb (366gb) micro sd that I plan to use in it though, once I'm ready.
