Update to driver for Radeon HD 6490M

It appears I'm having an issue with the Radeon HD 6490M driver causing a blue screen error.  The fan will run at max for a while prior to the blue screen appearing.  Error messages refer to the video driver.

Is there an updated driver available?  Tried downloading one from the ATI site and it wouldn't install, apparently need one from HP.

HP Pavilion DV6 notebook

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

Intel i7-2630QM

Re: Update to driver for Radeon HD 6490M

I had the same issue, though i dont remember anymore, was that the case with a driver version from september, or this "latest" one from november. Now i have an issue with the upper right hand side of my screen, seems like glitching or laging when playing games ie Flight Simulator X, doenst happen when playing something elsse.  in any case, dear HP when can we expect new drivers? the ones that are available on AMD/ATI site are refreshed every month, though we cant use those. Please take some action.

Re: Update to driver for Radeon HD 6490M

Hi,

I've attempted to update my driver via different methods and it dosen't work, it says to contact my manufactor so Hp how can I update my graphics drivers to the latest version.

I'm trying to play Diablo 3 and whereas it dose work its not the optimal experiance.

I paid £1200 for this laptop and one would expect to be able to use the latest drivers.

Re: Update to driver for Radeon HD 6490M

I'm having the exact same problem, I'm getting a notice that I should update my drivers, and to do that I should contact HP to get my drivers. Where exactly am I supposed to download these? I also have a pavilion dv6 with a Radeon HD 6490M.

Re: Update to driver for Radeon HD 6490M

It's a shame no one is responding to this thread with solutions. Try launching the HP Support Assistant. And in the get assistance section click on "Access online resources for your PC". Or if you don't have SA installed, then go here -> http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html and put in your pc's product number, usually located somewhere near the windows sticker where the Product Key is always there. In the DV7 6175us, it's in the battery port. I hope this helps anyone.

Re: Update to driver for Radeon HD 6490M

Well Hp dont think this is a problem, their response is

'As explained in earlier email, the drivers on the HP website are only updated when a fix is required for particular issues. If you are finding that the latest driver shows date of 2010 or 2011 then this is due to the fact that there have been no further issues reported to release a new driver update.'

Re: Update to driver for Radeon HD 6490M

My display driver is still crashing, and I haven't found a solution yet. This is sad, especially considering I can't even watch a movie without a crashing on me. First time this has been happening to me. smh
