HP ENVY TouchSmart m7-j178ca
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

I have had My Envy 17 for over a year now and from the last few weeks the bottom of the laptop is getting deatached from the laptop's body.I have never seen or experienced this kind of problem with any laptop. I take very good care of mine and I am surprise to see this happening to it. This is not the first problem I had with it. Just after I bought it the screen died and suport changed it for me cause the warranty was still on. I've seen posts of people having the same issue and it seems that this happens after the warranty is done. I think this should be a recall problem to be sloved by HP.If not at least some guidance should be given to us customers on how to fix it by ourselves.

Everytime I open my laptop to use it I can see the gap becoming bigger, it can be fit back in place once the screen is closed, but is never 100% when the screen is open. I am worried about damage of the laptop components.

Please help!

Thanks

Hi! @rodlorenzi, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand that bottom cover on your laptop is detaching by itself.

I have checked the recall program for your laptop. But I was unable to find any recalls done your laptop.

You check by yourself for recall programs from HP using this link: http://hp.care/2eBCCtS

If you need to get the issue fixed. Please contact HP for service options.
