HP Recommended
Elitebook8460p
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I downloaded the lastest Bios update and ran the update utility.

the operation looks like it never fully initiated.

upon reboot

the 8460p won't start up or access the bios

I get a black screen, with a constant Cap lock flash, steady flash no pattern..  After 5-10sec the fan comes on and stays on.  And you can only power off by removing the power supply.

I have tried creating a flash drive bios load, but the system either doesn't load or the flash drive is not configured correctly.

is there anyway I can reflash the bios or a service I can use to reflash.  It seems like a waste to have to replace a motherboard when I know the fault is a bad bios load.

The laptop is out of warantee so i know I will have to pay for any official HP support, would prefer as cheap as an option as possible to not exceed the laptop value and see it becoming electronic waste.

any help would be appreciated

thanks
