So... I own an HP Spectre x2 12 a001dx, Detachabe and would like to know how crazy it is to just go about and add more RAM to it.

According to the HP Support Assistant's  specifications tab, thisone has 2 "2GB  SK Hynix 1600MHz" RAM sticks.

I researched about the brand and turns out you can buy them off Amazon for a really cheap price.

Can it be done?

It would be very crazy since the memory is soldered to the motherboard.

Service Manual

The Manual does not list any memory modules as replacement parts not show memory installation and the list of available motherboards includes 4 gig and 8 gig.

Sorry.

I know, I've read the manual, however it only "mentions" the RAM and states it's not shown in the diagram, so there's no real way to know if it's soldered or not.
Based on the design of other tablets, albeit of Chinese manufacturing like Teclast or Cube, it is very feasible the RAM being detachable.
Any HP expert would know the answer?

I'm an Expert and I know the answer it is soldered. I have read dozens of these manuals and if the memory could be upgraded it would say so.

Also the Manual says:

Support for LP-DDR3 1866-MHz dual channel Support for up to 8.0-GB maximum on-board system memory

The bolded words have specific meaning: soldered on. Sorry the answer is not to your liking and you are welcome to keep going until you get an answer you like but when somebody finally takes a screwdriver to it and sees it is soldered to the board don't blame me.
