I had previously contacted the HP online parts store to ask what part number I'd need to order, to replace the Power Switch / LED Cable assembly, for my SR2011WM Product# RF800AA, and HP gave me part# 257303-001. I ordered it. This part doesn't even come close to fitting (the recommended part has 18 pins and mine's 9-pin config.), and HP Parts desk offers no additional assistance on the subject.

I take it that you have used a multimeter and a power supply to verify the operation of the switch and the leds. The switches don't fail very often and MTBF of leds is quite high.
Or did you just jumper the power switch pins? That is the simplest way.
I looked in the HP PartSurfer. There isn't even a listing for the Power switch / LED cable assembly. Replacing the led is simple soldering ( just make sure that you know which leads on your replacement led are the cathode and the anode). For the switch just go to a decent electronics store and find a replacement that will work. ( the switch is a single pole momentary contact) That is why it doesn't matter which lead you place on the motherboard pwr sw header.
An alternative, if you plan on keeping the switch that HP sent you, just trace the wires to the components needed and splice in the old connector. The preceding alternative requires skill and will void your warranty if your PC is still in warranty.
BTW...the model and part number you supplied is for a desktop, not a laptop. You should have posted in this section.
