Re: Probook 4530s fan noise : DSDT table edition ?

jhoonq,

Well done on not giving up the fight and for progressing this far.

I'm looking forward to the next step when we hopefully get an app specifically for HP Probooks that will give us full control over when the fan is and is not activated at various different temperature levels.:smileyhappy:

THIS IS IT!

HPFanControl by troubadix - Scroll to the download area and you will find the link to download HPFanControl. All the info needed is inside the .ini and on this thread.

Please send a shout-out or some $ via paypal to troubadix, as he wasted time for us, making his two year old thinkpad tool compatible with our HP!

Re: Probook 4530s fan noise : DSDT table edition ?

I still haven't managed to install the HP Fan Control software due to the total lack of clarity over the install process compared to TPFanControl.  There is something mentioned about needing to install "TVicport" at http://www.staff.uni-marburg.de/~schmitzr/donate.html but no explanation of where to find this utility or the install process.

Whilst I realise some of you are expert programmers others of us are just Notebook PC users who like them to run quiet and unfortunately I cannot currently achieve this whilst I am not clear of what the Self Help install process.

If jhoonq or another IT Expert in this thread could clarify the install process by setting it out step by step then it would be very helpful.

Re: Probook 4530s fan noise : DSDT table edition ?

I stil don't see why the install procedure can't be set out clearly step by step in a manner that I or any ordinary laptop user can understand.

Or do you think that having a quiet PC is something that should only be available to heavy duty IT Geeks????

troubadix has done an amazing job, so let me introduce you to the final version of HPFC!

Changes:

- Lots of work done to redesign the main window, both slim and fat versions
- Working "Fan On/Off" window
- Working "Fan Speed" window
- Many other miscellaneous improvements

Download the program, run setup and that's all. No need for aida64 or any other program. Just remember to disable "Fan allways on while on AC" in the Bios. The default .ini is set just right for the 4530s. It will start the fan at 60C and turn it off at 50C. There is also an "Instructions" document and each option that can be changed in the .ini has info, so anyone can understand what does what.

Here is how it looks when you first start the program:

If you want to enable the fat style, set slimdialog=0 in the ini:

Download HPFanControl v0.62 built 20120617

Re: Probook 4530s fan noise : DSDT table edition ?

I have a new HP ProBook 4530s and the fan is loud as hell!!!

This totally sucks, and if HP does not fix this issue it will be my last HP!

Sorry but this is terrible!

When the laptop gets idle it should at least have some sec the fan off!

Does anybody know the part of the DSDT table where to change the fan settings?

Are these by k3mp the right ones?

Found this in my DSDT:

<snip>

Name (TRPC, Package (0x05)
{
Package (0x04)
{
0x60,
0x63,
0x63,
0x80
},

Package (0x04)
{
0x65,
0x6C,
0x80,
0x80
},

Package (0x04)
{

0x80,
0x80
},

Package (0x04)
{

0x80
},

Package (0x04)
{
0x36,
0x37,
0x80,
0x80
}

</snip>

seems to be an two dimensional array with speed states.

<snip>

Store (0x10CC, MRPM)

</snip>

i think MRPM is "marimum rounds per minute". 0x10CC is 4300RPM.

editing the speed states could fix your loudness problems.

Re: Probook 4530s fan noise : DSDT table edition ?

I have a very loud fan on my Phobook 4530s with Celeron inside. Fan sounds like "tra tra tra" all the time, but My friend has same Probook 4530s, but with Intel i3 processor. And his laptop is super silent. Even when fan is running, it is much more quiet than mine, so maybe we just have to replace fan from Intel i3 processor Probook instead of trying to slow it down?
