Validity Sensor failure.

i purchased a HP Pavilion dv8-1200 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC. at first everything worked fine. the machine is beautiful. however after using the laptop for a while i started to have issues with the fingerprint reader. i have scoured the internet and found many many different solutions for fixing this issue. however after attempting driver uninstalls and reinstalls. discovering that a certain version of the driver doesn't work and trying to get the one before it. i have uninstalled digital persona and reinstalled it twice. and this is the problem i am left with: the fingerprint reader is not detected. (it is embedded in my laptop so i am unable to simple unplug and replug it). in device manager under usb devices there is an "unknown device". i feel like i have tried everything to get it to recognize that this is in fact the fingerprint reader. however no matter what i try i am unable to suceed.
anyone have any suggestions or fixes for this?

thanks in advance.

Sincerely,
Kiliani

Re: Validity Sensor failure.

You need to install the fingerprint sensor driver: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-75414-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...=

Uninstall any driver you find in Device Manager under Biometric Devices.

Then install the driver package and Digital Persona should recognize it.
