Hi. I have a Pavilion dv7-4060us notebook, Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit. I had an overheating problem not too long ago that caused my notebook to shut down on it's own. I bought a cooling pad to help with the overheating, which helped. But now, everytime I start up, it gives me a black screen reading "Operating System has found that a cooling fan has stopped working" or something similar. The error code was "System Fan (90B)." How do I get rid of this error message? Post back here or reach my email at email@example.com. Thanks.

This PreBoot Diagnostics that is indicating there is an issue with system fan. It would be a case of System Fan not running or running at slower speed than it should...
I would suggest, try doing power drain, by disconecting AC adapter, removing battery and pressing the power button for few secs... if that always you to boot to the OS, that Update the BIOS if not than I would suggest contacting HP Tech Support for getting your unit serviced...

My computer is HP Pavilion g4-1001tx
And I got the same poblem. I got the message about fan error 90B after enter I can access to OS but the laptop is very hot. It usually runs at 80-80 C degree.
Please give me suggest.

I have a problem with my hp g7-13010us .When she strats sometimes show me the error(90B).She shut down after 15 seconds but if you hit the enter botton start againg but you fell the heat in the left side.One time she even close all my programs and left me on the scrrensaver.I try allready the shut down ,take the battery out and push the strat botton for 5 second and dont make any differren.I hope you can save my conputer.She still in warranty up to 3/8/2013.

A 90b error is related to the system fan. Make sure to clean out all the CPU vents. I would recommend using compressed air to make sure their is no debris or dust clogging the vents. If the vents are clean I would recommend contacting HP technical support since you are still in warranty.

Good afternoon. The same problema. Kuler clean and not working at startup. Decision to push the screwdriver blade and it will work. New laptop and cooler defective.
