I was issued an Elitebook 8560p laptop for use with a 90 W HP Docking station at work. When the laptop is plugged into the docking station, the "audio out" port of the docking station does not work. The sound continues to come out of the laptop speakers, or, if I plug in headphones into the laptop headphone port, it comes out of the headphones. Plugging in headphones into the Docking Station does not produce any sound (either of the two audio ports -- in or out). When the laptop is plugged in to the docking station, no additional playback device appears in the Sound menu -- just AMD HDMI Output (disabled) and Speakers (enabled).
The speakers/headphones on the laptop work fine, the problem is just that the docking station is in no way "replicating" or taking over the sound output and it is as if the speaker port of the docking station just weren't there. Thus, I could use my headphones by plugging them directly to the laptop, but this really seems to defeat the whole concept of a docking station. All of the other ports (video, usb) seem to work fine on the docking station.
I am running Windows 7, 64-bit.

I reinstalled the sound driver (for the laptop) while the laptop was plugged into the dock. This did the trick.
