I have been very upset with Sony as I bought Vaio laptop in March this year for about £800 and it ended up with faulty hardware. I had to send it back to Sony for repairing short circuit on touch keypads, and now I am going to send it again for not charging battery, and hot cpu and mother board? Any recommendation would be very appreciated.

Hey! you can compare one model with another and not the brands. HP pavilion DV 6 series are the best. I recently bought HP DV 6119tx from www.laptopwale.com for Rs.51k. It is really good.
It has one year on site warranty and 1 year accidental damage cover too. Cheers!

Hello,
I like Sony, but my mainstay is Hp. Why? The main reason is that unlike Sony, Hp doesn't downclock the laptop's GPU. Sony downclocks their laptop's GPU via the bios and there is no way to get the GPU back up to the factory specs it deserves and was built to run at unless you do a bios mod. For instance, the GPU card HD5650 from ATI Radeon is factory clocked at 550/800 MHz. In the Hp laptop it is also clocked so, but in the Sony laptop, it has been downclocked by 100 MHz. This downclocking bottlenecks performance, and in a Sony, you will never get that card's MHz back up to factory specs, without doing a special bios mod. Which can be a headache. So why buy a headache? It's as simple as this.
If it were a rattler. . . .
