I have EliteBook 8770w with HP ProtectTools enabled and just turned on the TPM security. I restarted and tried to access the BIOS, my password is accepted but pretty much all the options are disabled. Any idea what's going on here?
Is this from the TPM chip?

Actually the solution was to login in BIOS as guest and then setup a Admin BIOS password. Thanks to that post.
It's strange that the default user doesn't get Admin BIOS rights.

So I was accessing BIOS for the first time and as an administrator (windows built in enabled or some other) and the greyed out options were what HP would recommend I kept them that way (funny and rhetoric).
After several attempts I figured I should access BIOS as a “guest”!! and it worked: i.e. I was able to change the greyed out options – including “virtualization”.
Thanks.
(From there, I was able to select “Hyper-V platform” at Windows Features).

Thank you so much VeskoJ for the vital and useful info. I followed the simple info you wrote about logging via guest and create an admin password. Afterwards i had all the power to effect changes.
My problem started 6 days ago. I got an HP Probook 4530s and installed a new hard drive (1TB). The HDD could not be detected in bios due to the password that was set. But when i ran diagnostics it was there however the BIOS settings were greyed out. So i spend the whole week tussling on the internet until i stumbled over your post.
You saved my day and now my client is smiling. I had to create an account on this forum to say THANKS!
