Microsoft Windows Vista

Yesterday, I tried to start up my laptop and, after swiping my finger on the reader, the error message came up "The User Profile Service service failed the logon.  User profile cannot be loaded." (yes, the word 'service' is repeated in the error).   Same message if I typed in the password.

Hi,

Somehow the user profile has become corrupted. You will have to start in safe mode where you can use the default administrator account to either try to fix the user profile or create another account and transfer all files to it and then delete the corrupted account.

Enter safe mode in Vista by pressing F8 when computer is starting and choosing safe mode.

Here is link to microsoft support article dealing with this

Hope it helps,

David
