From its manual

           http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03559419.pdf

It supports

● Intel® Dual Core® i7-3520M 2.90-GHz processor (SC turbo up to 3.60-GHz; 1600-MHz FSB, 4.0-MB L3 cache, 35 W)
● Intel Dual Core i5-3360M 2.80-GHz processor (SC turbo up to 3.50-GHz; 1600-MHz FSB, 3.0-MB L3 cache, 35 W)
● Intel Dual Core i5-3320M 2.60-GHz processor (SC turbo up to 3.30-GHz; 1600-MHz FSB, 3.0-MB L3 cache, 35 W)
● Intel Dual Core i5-3210M 2.50-GHz processor (SC turbo up to 3.10-GHz; 1600-MHz FSB, 3.0-MB L3 cache, 35 W)
● Intel Core i3-3110M 2.40-GHz processor (1600-MHz FSB, 3.0-MB L3 cache, 35 W)

Sounds like it supports 35W processors. The i7 3940xm uses 55W, which is not compatible.

Can you tell me which prosessor will ne best for gaming

@Amaar008

It is NOT a gaming machine, it is a business class machine which not suitable for games at all. If you wish to play games, HP has many gaming machines such as Omen, Victus ....

It is 12 years old now. You can upgrade to  ● Intel® Dual Core® i7-3520M 2.90-GHz processor (SC turbo up to 3.60-GHz; 1600-MHz FSB, 4.0-MB L3 cache, 35 W) if you wish.
