DV6-3140SA / XE100EA - Recovery Disc Required

Updated to Windows 10 from factory installed Windows 7 (64bit). Recently, laptop became very slow and kept 'hanging' so I did a factory reset and... did two stupid things:

1 - Didn't make recovery image on disc or USB.
2 - Deleted Recovery Partition not realising what it was.

HP no longer supply recovery kits for my model. Can anyone advise on how to get my machine working again?

If you can still read all 25 characters of the W7 product key on your notebook's case you can make your own plain W7 installation media.

This site claims to have genuine, unadulterated W7 ISO files for download...

Click on the link labeled Windows ISO Downloader.exe

You can use either the:

 Win 7 Home SP1 or the (Retail version, but the  OEM key on your PC's case should work with it)

 Win 7 Home SP1 COEM (This version would be for what HP would have used--System Builder)

N is for European Union (EU) countries.

K is for South Korean markets.

Then you can use this tool to transfer the file to a 4 GB USB flash drive or a DVD.

Computer Surgeons don't seem to have it either. 😕

(PS: My machine is reinstalling Windows 10 fine but then hanging at reboot. If I do as you suggest, will I lose access to Windows 10?)

Yes, you will but you can always clean install W10 anytime you want since you had previously upgraded your notebook to W10.

You may just want to try reinstalling W10 and see if that fixes the bugs.

When you get to the part of the installation where you are asked to enter a product key, you select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically reactivate once you are connected to the internet.

I checked the Best2Serve HP-ePartner website, and they don't have recovery disks for your model either.

The model suffix of your notebook indicates that you are located in the UK.  Best2Serve is the only place you can order recovery disks from in Europe and the UK, unless you want to pay a fortune for international shipping from the USA (and most likely the USA sites won't have recovery disks for non-USA/Canadian models).

Unfortunately, I wouldn't know what the part number for the recovery disk set is.

It is going to be a set of at least 2 disks.
