Customer Service has asked me to run basic diagnostic test. This procedure has been stuclaimed on 17% estimated time remaining 12 mins 13 secs for over two hours!! Is it safe to say that my laptop has once again frozen. Shall I abort test. Quick test was selected.

Was this a hard disk test? If so, and it's stuck like this, that indicates that your hard drive has failed and needs to be replaced.
IF it was a different test, I don't know what to tell you.
Either way, you can turn it off without damaging the PC.

Thank you for your response. Numerous things are wrong with laptop latest issue is it crashed and will not boot certainly that could indicate a hard drive issue however test is showing hard drive as passed. I have now switched off as laptop is getting very hot. I await response from HP. Thank you for your advice.
