ENVY x360 m6-ar004dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi!  I purchased an Envy x360 m6-ar004dx recently and so far it has been a decent laptop.  One thing that has been a nuisance is that when I lay my laptop on its side (rotated 90deg, lid opened and not in tablet mode), the laptop enters sleep mode after X amount of minutes.  At times, the laptop is does not go into sleep mode when it is on its side, however, it enters sleep mode when I retreive my laptop from the aforementioned position.  It seems like the accelerometer is triggering sleep mode when rotated in either direction.  I reviewed all of my Power Options and ensured that the computer does not enter sleep mode when plugged in.  Are there any settings I can modify to resolve this issue?

Thanks in advance!

I looked around and after a long research, I found that this could be a simple and possibly a funny solution (you'll know what I mean once you are done, reading this).

Evidently, your model contains the power button on the left side and when you flip it 90 degrees and lay your computer on it's left, the power button is squeezed in and that puts your computer to sleep according to the settings on - "Choose what the power buttons do"

Please check the above settings on Power options and change it to - "DO NOTHING" to resolve this issue.

Keep me posted, though!

I understand you've been troubled with the sleep mode initiating during the conversion to the tablet mode,

I would recommend you follow the steps mentioned in this Article  (under sleep mode & Away mode options)to resolve the issue.

Let me know, how that goes!

Hi Riddle_Decipher, thank you for your reply to my question.  The sleep/hibernate settings on my laptop are satisfactory.  All options are set to allow the laptop to not enter sleep or hibernate mode when plugged in.  The laptop goes into sleep mode when rotated 90 degrees and laid on its side.  I attached a picture to better represent what I am talking about.  When I lay the laptop in this position, the laptop immediately goes into sleep mode.  At other times, the laptop stays on and enters sleep mode when I retreive the laptop and place it on my lap.  I wonder if the laptop's position trigger's an input to enter sleep mode?

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
