I ran a norton security update yesterday, today I go to turn on the computer and get a few messages; Boot Device Not Found, Please intstall an operations system on your hard disk.

hard disk (3Fo) F2 system diagnostics

when running the quick diagnostic, hard drive quick check come back good.

where to turn from here? Device is out of warranty and any advice would be helpful. Thanks so much!

Hello @Breagan1

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

You get this message because either of these:

- Computer's BIOS is not configured correctly and it tries to boot from a device (not standard HDD) that has no bootable stuff on it (e.g. empty USB pen drive)

- there is no HDD/SSD/storage drive present in the PC

- HDD/SSD is present but corrupted (or some connector is not working)

- Operating system (e.g. Windows) is totally corrup/unbootable

You can review the official HP article about such issues > http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01443463

Since you have already performed Hard Disk Drive diagnostics, we can assume the HDD is fine.

Reset BIOS settings to default...  (if this does not help, this is Windows/operating system  issue)

1. Please, shutdown the computer using the power button

2. Power it on.

2.1 As soon as you press the power-on button, immediately begin hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap).

This should open a HP Startup Menu

3. Press / Choose F10 to open BIOS setup.

Navigate through the BIOS and find the option to load default settings/configuration/reset BIOS settings to default. Review the boot options in Advanced or boot sub-menu.

Save the changes.

Exit the BIOS saving the changes.
