Hello.

When i try to open Excel file which was originally saved when i used 2007 or if i create new 2010 files i receive the error message: External table is not in the expected format.

Is there something i can do to change this?

Hi frost937!

"External table is not in the expected format." typically occurs when trying to use an Excel 2007 file with a connection string that uses: Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 and Extended Properties=Excel 8.0

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

MS did introduce a new XML file format in Office 2007, but from what I remember, it saved the Excel spreadsheets using that format by default -- and Office 2010 uses the same format.

Sorry, we do not have the resources here to debug MS Office file format problems.  For those issues, you will need to contact the product vendor -- Microsoft.

Good Luck
