I factory reset my HP 15 Notebook and it's been saying 99% for the past four or five hours now. Is this a normal process or do I just have to wait it out until it finishes? I factory reset my laptop because I couldn't remember the Windows password to log onto the computer while I was setting it up.
That doesn't sound right...couple hours but going on five hours that is something serious going wrong. Maybe you should order the HP Factory REcovery disk and try again. I think something serious has gone bad here.

F.A. O :Anconelly.
I have just experienced the same thing. I turned mine off after 14 hrs.
I have tried a second time , now I can't even use my laptop. The screen flashes alternatively from black to grey. The only thing I have been able to do is run a Systems Extensive Test. It shows everything is working ( excepy my laptop ). Can you be of any assistance

Doing what you did you messed up the system and now you have to buy the HP REcovery media to restore it. There is no way around it now.

still ticking on 99% and have been doing so for maybe 30 mins..
what will be the outcome if it completes after getting that error message?
