Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop will not boot.  It is out of warranty and and was purchased in June 2014.

It ran a system disc check to no avail and I then ran a System Quick Test which provided the following

Processor Check: Passed

Hard Drive Smart Check: Passed

Hard Drive Short DST Check: FAILED

FAILURE CODE:  RLH2SM-75C8GX-MFKR6J-60WX03

Product ID:  F5Y05UA#ABA

I think I have lost everything on the hard drive which will be devastating, but my own fault with no backup.....

Probably data can still be recovered off the drive but you need to stop trying to use it to preserve whatever function it still has. You need to buy a new hard drive for your laptop and install it and then you are going to need a usb to SATA adapter to try to scavenge data off the old drive. Post back if you need help.

Thanks vey much for the response.  Sure is more helpful than what HP offered.  I will try it and post again for assistance as needed.
