Hi,

I have experience frequent blue screen error 3-5 times in a day. this is a new notebook with updated drivers, less than 6 motnhs.

Usually happens when watching a video on VLC while downloading online via Wi-Fi. expectation should be able to handle/run multiple functions or applications at the same time.

Please advise. Thanks.

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x0000007e (0xffffffffc0000005, 0xfffff80c971e0bea, 0xffff8480de5df658, 0xffff8480de5dee80). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 8b742f0b-435d-402a-a9fe-e099f37d557b.

Hi @ecnerwal

Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.

BSOD is kind of Windows self-protection feature. If you received a blue screen error, or stop code, the computer has shut down abruptly to protect itself from data loss.

A hardware device, its driver, or related software might have caused this error.

What you describe could happen because of incompatible with Windows driver (most often) , Windows bug or because of hardware issue (rarely).

In order to troubleshoot, I would need some specific information.

1) Please, read this post >> http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/Your-PC-ran-into-problem/td-p/5291859

It explains the issue and the logs needed to diagnose the issue.

Configure your system to create Kernel Memory Dump

Reproduce the issue

Collect the MEMORY.dmp file

Let me know when you are ready and upload the dump files somewhere - e.g. in your Cloud service such as DropBox, Box, OneDrive, GoogleDrive, etc.. Give me URL to download and review it.

2) ADDITIONALLY - test your PC for hardware issues - perform quick/fast test in UEFI BIOS test

or test the memory and HDD. More information >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03467259

Post back the results.
