Hi,
Does the PC shutdown when only 20% of battery charge is remaining? Have you performed a diagnostics and /or calibration on battery?
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04700771
Try the steps in the HP support document and let me know. When the battery is more than 20% does the PC stay on?
Let me know,
David

Hi,
It is most likely a defective battery which is no longer holding the charge.
I have a computer here (old) where the battery is at 100 %, but if I remove power chord it will shut off in less than 5 minutes because the battery is basically dead.
When the battery is fully charged on your computer and you remove power chord, what happens? How long does it last?
Let me know,
David
