I have an HP Pavillion g7 Laptop with Windows 7 installed, but the Windows files I believe are corrupted. when I try to start the computer up, it just says Starting Windows, and doesn't do anything, I can't go into recovery mode either, when I do, all that appears is the cursor. The HP Quickweb (started by pressing f5/internet button) works perfectly fine. A friend of mine triend to fix it by putting a Windows 95 install disc in without my consent. now I just say there is no brive to boot from. HP Quickweb says "Windows file system is encrypted, not cleanly shut down or hibernated." Is there a way for me to repair or re-install Windows entirely through HP Quickweb? The Quickweb version is 3.1.1.

I apologize for the really late response, I've been busy with school, but I came back to say that I tried the Hard Drive Test and that didn't work, which I didn't think it would considering that my computer tries to boot on Windows 95 with corrupted Windows 7 files installed on the Hard Drive. The results for the quick Hard Drive Test were: SMART Check: PASSED Short DST: Failed FAILURE ID: RTX3PW-62F8AV-MFPX01-60X303 PRODUCT ID: A7A29UA#ABA Hard Disk 1 _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hard Disk Test: FAILED I would also like to mention that in your reply @The_Fossette you said "I understamd that you are unable to boot to desktop and the computer goes to a blank screen now." I would like to add that it doesn't just go to a blank screen but when I start it up it says "Remove disks or other media. Press any key to resart" and when I press a key it responds with "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key". I do not have any media attached that could be interfering with this, the only thing connected that could hold a bootable device that is attached to my computer is that Hard Drive, which is relatively fine by itself because I can start up HP Quickweb/

Thank you, as Hard Drive replacement will cost money, I will look more into replacement another time, as Christmas is coming up and all that, and I may have to purchase a new installation of Windows on my PC, that's also an issue. Purchasing Windows may not be necessary as it seems there is a Windows 10 Installation Media Creation Tool on the Windows website I may be able to do that and use my product key on my laptop's sticker to register it. Is it possible to do this or would I need a completely brand new product-key?

Hi @Waffles041701

Thank you for posting back.

You do not need to purchase a new operating system. You can contact phone support and order the recovery media for your computer. It will contain windows and all the software which initially came with your computer.

Hope this answers your question and you have a good day ahead.

Take care!

Cheers!
