Hopefully someone here can help me figure out what is going on. I am not sure if this is a Hard Drive issue or not. I have been trying to Hard/Factory Reset my computer for the last two days. If I try too, it will tell me on the "Reset this PC" screen that it won't allow me too. I even tried system restoring back to a later date, and that doesn't work either. It will either freeze, or say that there is a problem restoring data.

So my next option was to do a Diagnostic test to see what is wrong. Everything else will pass except the Harddrive Short DST check, it will fail. It then gives me a failure ID to give to support.

Basically the computer can detect the Harddrive but it won't allow me to do anything. I can't factory reset otherwise it freezes or tells me I can't. And if I try to boot it normally, it will go into Automatic Repair Mode and will say it's repairing disk errors and will not proceed beyond that point.

I can't boot via Windows Installation disc either as the computer came with it pre-installed and I don't have the disc.

Any help trying to figure this out is appreciated.

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by our HP Forums.

I see that you were having problems completing the Factory Reset and the Hard drive diagnostic failed.

If the Short DST Check failed, then it's a faulty Harddrive and Reset or Recovery will not work.

Since it is a Hardware issue, please contact our Tech Support for Service Options.

Thank you. Have a wonderful day.
