HP Pavilion ab141na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello to everyone!

I think all we know about the new major update of windows 10 (Creators Update). I have an hp pavilion ab141na and until now i havent got any big problems. I was running until a few days ago w10 1607 build 14393.969, on april 11 i got the creators update via windows update.

For no reason, the installation of the update failed twice. As i have a little bit time to play with, i downloaded the creators update iso from the official microsoft site and i used the media tool to burn it on a stick.

My bios is updated to the latest f41 revision A.

I booted from the usb stick, i waited a few moments and the machine restarted and kept doing that forever.

I have read somewhere on this forum that you had to disable the tpm module from the bios in order to be able to install windows!?

Will HP do something about it?

thank you

Hello, @GeorgeNt – Hope you are well 🙂

Thanks for engaging in the HP Forums! I see by your post that you are experiencing issues while updating to Windows 10. I will certainly do my best to help you!

Going through your post, I understand that the update failed twice. Please check for these and then try updating again:

  1. Do you have any Anti-Virus installed? Disable the Anti-Virus for a while and try again.
  2. Is there any malware which prevents the upgrade?
  3. Delete the cache memory, temp files, and other unwanted cache files to free up the RAM and disk space. Use a 3rd part program like CCleaner or any other cleaning program if necessary.
  4. Run all other Windows update and restart the PC.

Now, go to http://bit.ly/2p3RIMA and click on Download tool now to get the tool downloaded and then update the Windows 10 again.

NB: Customers are allowed to go to their desktop and work during the update by clicking on “Go to my desktop” while my PC updates in the lower left of the screen.

You will get a message display on your screen to restart their system when the upgrade is complete. Please start the PC to complete the update.

Those steps should do the trick, let me know the outcome!

Good luck 🙂

Dear Dvortex,

Thank you for your answer.

1.) I have Kaspersky antivirus installed, but until know i never had any problems with any windows update. I will listen to your advice and i will disable it.

2.) No.

3.) My system have 8gb or ram. More than 50% is free according to the task manager > perfomance > memory.

4.) As i said, windows update tried two times to install the update both tries failed.

After that i decided to download the iso using the microsoft official tool and burn it on a usb stick. I booted from the usb and it was impossible to for the computer to launch the windows preinstallation enviroment. I disabled the tpm module and the setup started. When the setup was at the step 'Getting devices ready' system stopped and all i've got was a bsod.

So i believe HP must speak with Microsoft and find a workarround for the problem. Why we have to disable the tpm module in order for the setup to start and secondly why at the getting devices ready we get a bsod?!

Hello, @GeorgeNt

Appreciate your efforts 🙂

While using the Windows update to update to the creator's update, you mentioned that it failed twice. I would like to know whether you got any error message when it failed. If you did receive any error message please capture a screenshot and reply with the same. That will give us more ideas on how to troubleshoot this issue and to escalate if the need be.

Alternatively, I did some digging online and found the following steps for you to try:

  1. Download the Windows Update Troubleshooter tool from Microsoft.
  2. Select the Windows Update option.

  3. Click Next to continue.
  4. Click the Try troubleshooting as an administrator option (if applicable).
  5. Select Windows Update again.
  6. Click Next to start the troubleshooting process.
  7. Click Close.
  8. Restart your computer and try to install again.

Let me know if that helps!

Cheers 🙂
