Product: HP BC047CL Pavillion
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Have asked a vendor to remove an SSD and install a 2TB h/d with Windows 10 on a new netbook. The **bleep** thing keeps crashng and rebooting, despite BIOS upgrades and other patches.

 

I can't see any specific manuals for this model on the HP website, and the generic pavillion manual says 2TB drives are supported. So, is only the specific part no supported or all 2TB drives? (It's a seagate drive that was installed, not an obscure brand)

 

Also, I haven't had the back off the laptop yet but the manual says that the SSD is a memory chip, yet the old SSD they gave me is  2.5" enclosure. Huh?

 

I would like some context on what is supposed to happen so I can spank the techs if they are not doing their due dilligence.

 

Is this a common problem with Pavillions? I have had HP laptops for a while now, with no problems like this.

The small M.2 SATA you see mentioned in the Manual is not a boot drive. It is used as a cache drive to speed up some operations, but an SSD boot drive takes care of that alone. 

 

I'm not sure why the new hard drive is crashing since you have updated BIOS. Have you spoken to the shop about it?The Manual does say a 2tb is supported with a 128gb M.2 SATA. If your notebook has a M.2 and it is 256 that could be a factor,though nothing is mentioned on the Specs page about it having one pre-installed.
