Hi@tsupport-gmx,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community! I understand that you that you need assistance regarding the computer that shows a black screen with only the fan spinning. I will be delighted to assist you.
You’ve done an excellent job on diagnosing the issue from your end. Kudos to you on that score. It is always a privilege to work with tech-savvy customers like you. We greatly value your relationship with HP and I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you.
First off, we need to diagnose correctly if the issue is hardware or software related.
I would also require more information regarding this to help you better.
Please provide the complete model# and operating system of the unit.
Then we could run diagnostics on the machine to determine if there is a hardware failure.
Please perform a hard reset first. Link : http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768
Please connect an external TV or screen using an HDMI cable to check if there is a display.
Then try to run diagnostics from this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03467259
Then try to power on the computer to check if it works. If it does not, then it is a hardware issue with the unit and will need to be serviced by contacting HP phone support by visiting this link http://hp.com/contacthp
If the unit is under warranty, then the issue will be covered by the manufacturer's warranty ideally. Otherwise, please contact HP or local a technician to get the unit serviced.
If the diagnostics pass you could then restore the computer to factory settings using this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04758961 assuming the operating system is windows 10.
If it is windows 8 the link for system recovery is: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03489643
Please remember that it would restore the computer to HP factory settings and all data would be wiped clean.
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you.
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.
Take care now and have a splendid week ahead.
