Hello @Karinawallace
Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for posting.
What is the Windows version that you use now after the latest resetting to factory default - Win 7 , 8 or 10 ?
If your PC is stuck now or frozen, please perform hard reset/hard restart to solve the issue and eventually boot to Windows desktop. Here is how >> https://support.hp.com/rs-en/document/c01684768
Basically, you need to press and hold the power-on button for 5 to 10 seconds until the PC completely shuts down. If your PC has a removable battery, you need to also remove it for 15-30 seconds, reinstall back the battery and turn the PC on.
After PC starts to Windows successfully, you may completely disable the hibernation options from Control Panel / Power options
You may also update your drivers, 3rd party apps and re-configure some Windows Power options settings.
If Win 10 or 8 >> https://support.hp.com/rs-en/document/c03383935
If Win 7, check this >> https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01853693
""The computer will not go into sleep or hibernate mode""
Let me know how it goes.
