Got a new SSD and i would like to make a CLEAN system restore using the recovery partitions the "old" HDD has...

I tried using F11 when restarting and choosing a the restore but it never asked me WHERE i wanted the operating system, my guess it will reinstall everything on the HDD instead of the SSD...

Is there a way to do a full system restore using those partitions to the SSD instead?

Make  Recovery Media and boot from it.  Creating Recovery Media> Windows 7

Replace the original with ssd and boot from the Recovery Media. From your Maintenance Manual the smallest boot drive supported is a 320Gb so the SSD will need to be at least that capacity in order to use Recovery Media

Another option is imaging software such as Acronis which would copy the original hdd to ssd.

@badillin

The problem you are up against is that the HP restore function will expect to see a large HDD for the restore, not a much smaller SSD.  The first thing the restore function does is attempt to reformat the drive to restore the original partitions with their sizes and locations.

While this does work on some smaller drives, it also fails on many of them.
