Probook 5310m
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi, some months ago I bought from a german seller a stock  of  used HP  notebooks. One of these  is a Probook 5310m with bios password protected. The computer works fine and I'm sorry to throw it for this problem. Is there a way to reset the password?
thanks !!

Enrico

Sorry for my bad english 🙂

Hello @enrico863,

We are sorry as there is no master password or generator for EliteBooks or ProBooks.

HP Business Notebooks such as Probooks  or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models infact they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial Number and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case.

  1. Please Contact HP Business Notebook support they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.

When talking to the HP rep ask them to escalate your service request.

Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again !!

This is the italian page for the support:

Unfortunately, when I enter the model number or the serial number, the answer of the HP site is "page not found" 😞

There is another way to contat the HP customer care ?

Thanks

Yesterday I've contacted HP and I opened a ticket. Today I've received a cost estimate of 475.80, I think to replace the motherboard .....
It's ridiculous. A simple flash the bios and the problem was solved. Instead, they offered me the replacement of the motherboard at a ridiculous price. The commercial value of the notebook is almost 0

It 'obvious that I'll throw the computer 😞

Thanks !
