I forgot my Power On / Administration Password Cannot get to login screen. esc key and or F2 and such keys don't work

I have computer open was looking for CMOS battery to reset it. WHERE IS IT! that would help. thanks.

Do you talk about the BIOS password (power on/administrator BIOS password), or you mean the Windows login screen / Windows account password ?

It's the bios power on password when I turn the laptop on the screen shows to enter the administrator password.  I cannot get to Bios at all.  The System Disable code is [F56E1ABF]    

( I did the password wrong about 4 times to get that code      -not sure if still in disabled state)

I am the only user on that laptop nothing else is connected to it, not even a printer.  I just haven't used it in a while and I cannot remember the password.  I thought resetting the CMOS battery inside would be easiest, but I can't see it.  I know there is another area that comes off to expose the CMOS battery, but I do not want to disturb anything unneccessarily.  What ever is the most efficient way to unlock it or reset it is greatly appreciated.  Also, I have not used it much since I received it back from repair HP so it is like new.  Nothing to lose/restored. Also, maybe if I plug into my internet you can find me and restore it? ok thank you.   I am on my iMac now.  Sandra Cunha

Thank you for following the instructions correctly.

You can see how to remove the RTC battery from the PC manual > http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04402649  (page 127).

Your notebook is producing a more special halt code F56E1ABF which is stored in ram as a one time pass and will probably be re-calculated after a PC restart. 

Unfortunately, the easy way with pass generators will not work for this - you can still remove the BIOS power on password from the machine by removing the rtc battery ( leave the power board connected ) then hold down the power button for 60 seconds before re-inserting the battery.

This is quite a lot of steps and disassembling. Therefore, I recommend you contact HP Support for assistance:

Thank you for your help.  I really just needed to know where the CMOS battery is located.  I still don't know--the manual is not very clear-that part is not in the manual listed together ...PAGE-21 MAJOR COMPONENTS  lists parts but doesnt tell me what they are anywhere in the manual.  is the CMOS battery 5,6,7,9 or 12?  It's not clear.  I know it's connected to the system board.  Is it under the system board?  I think so,  well, my screwdrivers aren't small enough..i misplaced my reading glasses repair kit..it has smaller tools and I have used them before.  So I need to go get new ones. What ever the CMOS battery is under ...it only takes 2 little screws off of something to get to it.  I just can't remember which ones.I don't remember where it is.    Without dismantleing optical drive..and more stuff.  As I said I want to do it with out unneccessarily disturbing any other parts.  This manual doesn't show me the inside of my computer.   I have all screws off and I can look inside --under keyboard top and bottom.  I know it's not visable.  I just wish I could remember where it is exactly.

Oh I can see now that I saved the manual to my iMac.  Great.  I see the battery is #12 by the memory --from the description on page21 .  Now I just need to get my new tools and I think it will be just fine.  Thank you so much for the reference material.  Big help and 5Kudos to you!!!!!
