Hello; My laptop dropped from a bed down on to a capet (not soft). When started stops at the blue HP logo and cannot proceed. I have done system extensive test and was canceled after Vedio Memory check showed "software error". All other tests show passed. What could be the problem?

Apart from completely taking it apart and checking for physical damage, we have no way of knowing "what could be the problem".
Laptops are not designed to survive being dropped, even short distances onto carpeted surfaces. At a minimum, the hard drive is usually trashed to the point of being unusable. Other typical problems include cracked or broken motherboard, cracked or broken keyboard circuitry, cracked screen, damaged fan bearings ... and so on.
To find out the extent of the damage and what it will take to get it working again, you have have to do what my first statement above indicates, and that will be very expensive, at it will involve hours of labor, including diagnostics, and the cost of replacement parts -- and the hard drive might not even be salvageable.
If you want to find out the costs, you need to contact an HP Certified Service Center to arrange for an estimate: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00372730?jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0004
Good Luck
