Hi!
I have been using this Notebook PC for almost an year now and it never happened ever before with me. While I was working on the notebook it got shut down all of a sudden. Everything stopped working which includes screen, the power light indicator, hard disk led indicator, all but fan. Fan was working on a speed much more than normal.
I tried pressing the power key, long pressing the power key to force stop the system, also I tried plugging in charger, but nothing changed. It did not even display power cable connected indicator. It was so wierd to me. My battery was around 40% at the time of shut down.
Finally I removed the battery and inserted it again to restart the Notebook.
I just was to know what went wrong, and why did it happened all of a sudden. Since it was the first time, I don't want it to happen again in future. So if anyone can tell me why it stopped all of a sudden. Is there any log which gets recorded in PC for such events, i can give it to you but you need to tell me where would I find it.
Thanks

Hello,
Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum.
Such things can happen due to hardware issues or software issues. From what you describe it actually froze, did not shut down automatically. It was you who removed the batter to force it stop.
You may want to review these articles from HP about similar situations:
>> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03408309 (Win 10, 8.1 , 😎
>> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01896793 (Win 7)
Since this happened once only so far, I'd recommend you do not change anything at this moment but just check few major things to ensure the most critical parts are OK.
- You can go to Start >> Settings >> Control Panel >> Administrative tools >> Event viewer to review logs of latest activity.
You can check the Windows logs (Application and System).
Please, don't be scared if you see lots of Red or Yellow items - not all of them are critical - this is just a logging system
- You can check your computer for malware/viruses to ensure there are not any. Some could cause locks.
You can check with the free tools like these:
Kaspersky TDSS Killer >> http://support.kaspersky.com/us/5350
ESET Online Scanner >> http://download.eset.com/special/eos/esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe (www.eset.com)
Sophos HitmanPro >> http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro
Remove any threats if found
- Check Windows Update status in Control Panel and ensure it is not set to Automatic but instead set to to notify you before downloading and installing updates. Sometimes, if an updates takes longer to download/install, a computer might freeze.
- You can check your computer's hardware for hardware issues. Here is how to:
>> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03467259#AbT1
Once you load the UEFI hardware diagnosticsPlease, perform System Test >> Quick test
This one will check quickly the most important componets such as battery, RAM, HDD, motherboard, Processor
Let me know what you did, what were the results.

OK, you can also try the comprehensive test but since the quick one didn't find anything, I guess we are safe to say you are OK hardwarewise - so the most important part should be fine.
May be you could check the Event viewer for any messages/warnings that might be connected to this.
If nothing comes up - you are safe to go - I mean since it only happened once and since tests pass fine, it is nothing too serious.
Please, let me know how it goes.
