Hi
I recently encountered a problem with the drivers of my notebook. In fact, in the window of "Device Manager" available through the control panel, there are two unknown devices. Their Hardware IDs are:
1)
USB&VID_138A PID_003C&REV_0086
USB-VID_138A&PID_003C

2)
ACPI&VEN_HPQ&DEV_0004
ACPI-HPQ0004
HPQ0004

My OS is Windows 10 Pro
I would be immensely grateful if you could help me, also do not hesitate to contact me in case you would like to know more about the technical specifications of my computer or more information regarding my problem.
Greetings

Hi:

For the first device, you need this driver...

This package contains the driver that enables the Validity Fingerprint Sensor in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The fingerprint sensor scans fingerprints for use with biometric security applications.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59501-60000/sp59624.exe

For the second device, you need this driver...

This package provides the HP 3D DriveGuard software for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. HP 3D DriveGuard protects the hard drive by "parking the heads" if the notebook is accidentally dropped or is abruptly impacted by another object.

Hi
I have installed the programs that you report, however when I start the Installation process of The Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver, it displays an error message: "The software requires Microsoft Windows XP with SP3, Vista, or Windows 7." I'd really appreciate it if you could propose another valid option to solve my problem. However, I remain available for any doubts or requests for further information.
Greetings

That's interesting...The file said it was for W8.   There is no W10 driver.

Fix and enhancements:

Adds Windows 8 support.

This is what you probably need to do then.  Manually install the driver to get past the OS version check.

Go to the device manager.  Click on the Unknown USB&VID_138A PID_003C device needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.

That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp59624.

Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.

Then restart the PC.

I followed the steps you have indicated to me, but after specifying the location where the computer will have to look for drivers, an error message appears that reads: "The specified path does not exist or is unreachable."

I noticed that the program has installed the content in a different folder [C:\swsetup\SP58152], but within this folder, however, there is no file, with which to proceed with the installation of the driver, but there is only one file named : "HPPTVFSSetup".

OK, try this file instead.

If the auto install method doesn't work, try the manual install again but browse to C:\SWSetup\sp58900.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58501-59000/sp58900.exe

The above driver file definitely contains driver support for the hardware ID you posted.

Here is a partial copy and paste of the driver setup information file...

[Validity.NTamd64]
%VfsUsbDeviceName003c%=Biometric_Install, USB\VID_138A&PID_003c

I installed the driver, and restarted the computer, but in the events section of the driver properties there is a notification that says: " The USB-VID_138A&PID_003C-0030740ca289 device requires additional installation."

Unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

That driver should have worked.
