I've had an HP ever since I got my very first laptop, and quite frankly, I'm highly displeased with this model. Ever since the day I received this laptop, I've had nothing but issues. I don't have more than about 2gb's of memory stored on it and it operates slower than my grandmothers very old Dell DESKTOP. I have reset this laptop and done just about everything I could think to get it to operate better and faster, and with no avail, it takes forever for my internet explorer to even come up for it to work, and I KNOW it's not my internet. This is honestly the worst piece of $400 junk I've ever bought from you guys, and i am highly upset about my waste of money. I'm at the point where I don't know what to do. HELP

Welcome to the HP Support forum.

I am sorry for the issues you experience.

Your model is OK but a budget class device. I believe the issue is software related.

With regards to the hardware - your HDD is 5400 RPM which is slow by design BUT all other componets of your PC's hardware are fine so it should not be too slow.

I will post now some steps you can try to optimize your PC and make it faster

Perform some basic hardware checks

1. Please,  shutdown/turn off  the computer

2. Power it back on.

2.1 As soon as you press the power-on button, even before the HP logo appears, immediately begin hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap).

This should open a HP Startup Menu which may look similar to this one

3. Choose F2 to open System Diagnostics. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform System Test >> Quick test.

This will check major hardware componets for issue (do it just in case) . Here is more info >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03467259#AbT1

If there are no system checks/no quick tests, perform HDD and RAM check.

Let me know the test results. 

Back to Windows:

1. Your computer comes with McAfee preinstalled. I am not sure if this is still present on your PC ... In all cases, remove it as it is known to slow down PCs are certain fimes.

You can uninstall it from Start > Control Panel > Programs and features

Generally speaking I strongly recommend you uninstall any 3rd party security product (AV, firewall, etc...) and leave only the built-in Windows Defender/Windows Firewall running (do this at least temporary as a part of the troubleshooting process).

2. Click on Start > Settings > Update and security

Ensure Windows is fully updated.  Windows Update in Windows 10 runs on its own (fully automatic) and during its update process it may slow down the PC a lot

Restart after installing Windows Updates

3. Ensure all your drivers are updated - drivers for video card  /sound card / network adapters / etc..

4. Download and run CCLeaner (free from Piriform) with the extra options checked. Here are instructions

5. Run the free ESET Online Scanner >> http://download.eset.com/special/eos/esetonlinescanner_enu.exe

Scan your PC for viruses, threats and unwanted/unsafe applications - remove if anything found.

6. Uninstall any programs you definitely do not use and do not need

but you think might be a bit high on resources.

You can uninstall them from Control Panel > Programs and features

7. Optimize
