This problem occurred after a major system crash. I had to rebuild the entire system with my backup restore s/w. There were numerous problems with the Restore, and I had to go back to the originally loaded s/w. I tried to get all the software back that was originally HP loaded s/w, but there were various programs that were not not restored. I do not remember all of those programs, and in any case, they were not on the original backup. I also believe, it would be easier to determine what the actual driver is on the internal DVD, and then reload it.
The drive worked before the crash, so it is obviously not a hardware problem.
I tried to reload the Cyberlink program, but this did not fix the problem---though this appears to not be the same version or as complete as the program of the same name that came with the original software on the computer that came with my purchase.
