Excuse me. It has been a long time since I was a computer tech but from past experience, it seems to me that if a bios upgrade allows a memory upgrade, it should also allow compatible memory from any major memort board provider. It may not be necessary to buy from Crucial and you may save money going a different direction. Has anyone tried this?

Here are the specs for your HP ENVY 15-u011dx x360 Convertible Computer. Based on these specs, this model has 8GB of DDR3L SDRAM  in 2 DIMMs (SODIMM). Here is the HP ENVY x360 Convertible PC Maintenance and Service Guide for your computer. Based on the MSG, the computer supports up to 8GB of DDR3L - 1600MHz (PC3L, 12800) memory in 1 or 2 DIMMs (SODIMM).

There is no need to upgrade the BIOS to upgrade the memory. There is no need to use Crucial branded memory, you only need to use memory that is compatible the the required specifications listed.

This computer is already fitted with the maximum allowable memory, therefore trying to upgrade the memory isn't a useful task.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
