I need help. I purchased a laptop from a person and the BIOS has a password. I have tried everything I can think of except taking out the battery and letting it reset simply because A. Not sure it will work. B. Dont want to rip apart the laptop.
I have tried cmospwd. I kill it then on reboot it says the checksum is invalid and resets its self. I have tried the instructions here with creating a bootable usb.
It seems that tool doesnt work for this device. I am trying trying to run a 64 bit VM and VT-X is turned off in the BIOS. If someone even knows how to turn that on with out going in the bios that would work as well. It is supported on this CPU I downloaded the intel tool and checked. Please if someone can work with me it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello @quarinteen
Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for posting.
Most business class notebooks (including yours Elitebook and Probook) have better security, they do not produce halt codes and are better protected against "attacks".
You will have to contact HP Business Support for assistance on removing the password.
Here is how >> http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html

HP Business support should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file and instructions which you can use to reset the password. The assistance from HP for such issues is free of charge.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you face any issues.

No, HP Support will send you the required file by email - it is custom for your PC only based on unique info from your device.
