Hi @Missy121,

Thanks for visiting the HP community and posting your query here. Good day. 🙂 I understand that you are looking for assistance regarding the missing password screen on the computer during login. It will be a delight to assist you. 🙂

You’ve done a fabulous job by describing the situation perfectly and diagnosing the issue correctly. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂  You are an important HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. We greatly value your relationship with HP and I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this.

  • Did this happen after a windows or software update?
  • Did you make any software changes like installing a new app on the computer after which this could have happened?

For starters, please try to perform a system restore to an earlier time before the issue started from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03327545 and follow the link “Restore your computer when Windows cannot start normally”

This should do the trick for you. If it does not work, then you need to perform a complete system recovery to factory settings which will cause you to lose data, though. Link for system recovery: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-ENVY-15-j100-Select-Edition-Notebook-PC-series/6521373/model/...

Please follow the option “Recovery when Windows 10 does not start correctly” from this link to perform a system recovery.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. I'm always there to assist you. Please reach out anytime. 🙂

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂
