EliteBook 840 G1
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

I have purchased an 'off-lease' EliteBook 840 G1 which has come out of a corporate environment.

The HDD was Encrypted, so all I could tell was the Notebook has an OEM 'Pro Windows 8' sticker on its base.

I erased the entire HDD and re-installed a clean copy of the Win 8.1 OS. - all good and Windows Activated ok again as OEM

The way I understand it from available literature, I then had two options:

1. Upgrade to WIn 10 Pro (via electronic entitlement)

2. Down-grade to Win 7 Pro (preferred option)

I then 'down-graded' (clean-installed) the OS to Win 7 Pro. and Windows Activated successfully again as OEM. The system is running very well and updates etc. are coming through without issue.

Could somebody please confirm I am not in breach of any OS upgrade/downgrade eligibility rights in doing this down-grade to Win 7.

Thanks

As long as it activated using the key embedded in BIOS you are fine.
