HP only supported that model series for Windows Vista.

They do not have W7 installation disks or drivers for Windows 7.

You can use this guide for how to get W7 to work on your model.

I used the Vista drivers on my dv6700, which is basically the same model as yours except it has a 15.6" screen.

You have to manually install the graphics driver but all the other Vista drivers should work.
