This is for people wondering if it is possible or how easy it is to install Windows 10 x64 (64-Bit) & x86 (32-Bit) on a HP 2000-xxxxxx (the 'x' are for the various models of the 2000 line).
In a word it is very, very easy to install Windows 10 onto this system. Yes this system comes with Windows 8, and a lot of people utterly loath 8 and 8.1 because of it's unintuative interface for non touch screen devices.
I haven't ran into any driver problems or application problems.
That said, if you have any system utilities (Anti-virus, cache cleaning utilities, system "Tweaking" application, check for updates to those programs. I ran into a issue with a program from Yamicsoft called Windows 7 manager. I had to uninstall Windows 7 manager and install Windows 10 manager.
If you are eligible to upgrade (Windows 7 SP1 - Windows 8.1) then I highly suggest you take the upgrade.
Just make sure you back up all your documents, Photo's, Music, Video's, etc, etc.
I do however recommend you do a clean install and there is a way of legally doing that. But that is a whole different story.
If you have any questions regarding this, leave a response and I will endeavor to respond in a timely manner.

Well done. I was successful using the upgrades, keeping all the Apps on one system and only the files on another.

I wrote about Digital Entitlement here. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/Where-can-I-find-the-Windows-10...
A lot of users get stuck on a clean install when they cannot find the product key.
I don't work for HP either. Or Microsoft. Like you I have been solving my own problems, but only since 1985.

I beta testing Windows 10 and I saw the direction they were going. And I loved it.
However what gets me about doing a fresh install was that I had to use a utilitiy called Produkey to get the product key for Windows 10 pro. You would think they would make it easy to find the key. Who knows. Maybe they realized that people like me (hard core computer enthusiasts) would find a way to get it.
But to be totally honest, I really, really, really like this version of Windows, dare I say more then I like Windows 7.
I just got the latest Insiders build 10525, which didn't bring a lot. I have noticed less memory usage and a bit more control over themeing the application windows.
I just hope Microsoft is going to stick to all future updates to Windows will be free. Hell, I hope they follow Apples lead by supplying the OS free of charge to anyone. Time will tell.

I have no problems helping people with it. I have customers I see face to face where I can do the actual upgrade or clean install. But I know there are a lot of people who aren't technically inclined and have no one to fall back on.
As for finding the product key there is a app called Produkey that can fish the product key for 10 as well as for Office.

32 years seems like a long time, but it doesn't feel like it. Felt like yesterday I tore into my dad's Tandy 2500XL.

Thanks, yes, as the Digital Entitlement is in the BIOS, Produkey gets it, but other key finders just list the generic key.

Yeah, but (I can't believe I am going to say this) I would rather deal with the actual product key that is assigned to the computer then a generic one. With the draconian practices that Microsoft has been known to exercise , I don't want to chance someone getting into any issues by using a generic Product Key, less of a headache.

windows 10 free upgrade sucks.. NOTHING works.. I have extreme problems trying to use my HP 2000 now.. I want to toss this thing now.. EVERYTHING stalls.. I have restarted at LEAST 100 times.. everything interferes or is interefered with..
I would STRONGLY ADVISE not to upgrade!
